AI assistant

Closer has AI built in to help you write and translate your site. There are three AI tools:

1. the AI site builder, which creates a whole site from a short description;
2. AI edit in the editor, which changes a section or a whole page on request;
3. AI translation, which translates the whole site into another of its languages.

All three use your AI credits (see below).

AI site builder

Use it when you create a new site: choose AI on the new-site screen, describe your business and click Build my site with AI. The full steps are in Creating a site.

What the AI does:

• picks the best of our designs for your business;
• writes every headline, section and button for your business, in all the languages you chose;
• keeps the design's colors, images and layout, and keeps links between sections working.

What it does not do: it does not upload your own photos or logo. Replace the sample images in the editor after the site is built.

The more specific your description, the better the result. Say what you sell, to whom, at what price (if you want prices on the site) and what visitors should do: book, buy, sign up or write to you.

AI edit in the editor

1. Open the editor.
2. Decide what the AI should change:
   • select a section (click it in the preview or in the Structure list) to change only that section; or
   • select nothing to change all sections of the page you are viewing (this also works for a popup).
3. Click the AI button in the toolbar. The window shows what will change, for example section “Services” or all sections of the page “Home”.
4. Describe the change in your own words, or click a suggestion such as Make the text shorter and clearer, A more convincing call to action or Add 3 questions to the FAQ.
5. Click Create a proposal (or press Ctrl+Enter). The AI works in the background and the window waits until the proposal is ready; with a long page this can take a minute or two, so keep the editor open. Then you see a short summary of what it changed and, under it, how many credits the edit used and how many are left, for example 12 credits used · 1,488 left.
6. Click Apply to put the change into the draft, or Try something else to write a different request.
7. Review the result in the preview and click Publish when you are happy.

Applying never changes your live site directly: it only changes the draft, and Ctrl+Z brings back the previous state.

AI on one text: you can also click any text in the preview and ask the AI to rewrite just that text (shorter, more persuasive, translated…). See The editor.

Good requests

• Rewrite the heading and intro to be shorter and more convincing, for small business owners.
• Make the tone more friendly and personal.
• Add a fourth package for companies with a "Contact us" price.
• Write five FAQ questions about delivery and refunds.
• Translate this section into German.

Tips:

• Be specific about what and for whom.
• Work section by section for bigger changes; the results are more precise.
• Always read the result before publishing. The AI can make mistakes, especially with facts like prices, dates or addresses.

AI translation

When your site has more than one language, the toolbar shows AI translation while you view a language other than the main one. It translates every text of the site from the main language into that language and replaces the existing translation there. The editor is locked while it works, then reloads with the result in the draft. See Languages for the full steps.

Your AI credits

AI work is measured in AI credits. Every AI action uses some: a small edit of one section uses a few, building a whole site or translating it uses more, because there is more text to write.

• Plan credits: every plan includes a number of AI credits per month. They renew at the start of every month; unused ones do not carry over.
• Free trial credits: during the free trial you get only a share of the plan's monthly credits (the percentage is shown in Account → Plan & billing), and it is for the whole trial, not per month. Start your plan to unlock all of them right away. See Plans and billing.
• Purchased credits never expire. They are used only after the plan's credits are used up.

Where you see your credits:

• Account → Plan & billing → AI credits: what is left From your plan this month (or Free trial credits during the trial) and what is Purchased.
• In the AI edit window, after each edit: the credits it used and what is left.
• On the new-site screen: your AI credits balance.

AI activity

Under the credits in Account → Plan & billing is the AI activity list: every AI action of your account, newest first, with the site, what you asked for and how many credits it used. A site build or a translation is one line, even though the AI works on it in several steps. Actions that did not succeed are marked Failed.

Buying AI credits

1. Go to Account → Plan & billing (or click Buy credits on the new-site screen).
2. Scroll to AI credits.
3. Choose a pack and click Buy. Payment is handled by Stripe.
4. The credits are added as soon as Stripe confirms the payment. Packs are shown only while payments are switched on for Closer; otherwise there is nothing to buy.

When the credits are used up

If both your plan's credits and your purchased credits are used up, the AI tells you so. You can buy credits, or wait for your plan's credits to renew at the start of the month. During the free trial the message is You have used the AI credits of the free trial: start your plan now (see Plans and billing) or buy extra credits. Editing by hand always works.

If your plan does not include AI, you see a message saying so; upgrading your plan in Account → Plan & billing unlocks it.
