Store

On this page

Every Closer site can sell digital products: courses, e-books, templates, presets, LUT packs, video files and anything else you can deliver as a download. Buyers pay by card through Stripe, get a code by email and download their files right away.

Open Store in your site's menu. It has four tabs: Products, Orders, Coupons and Settings and Stripe. A badge at the top shows whether the store is on and whether it runs in TEST or LIVE mode. While the store is off, a bar at the top says so with a Turn on the store button: one click turns it on, and the cart icon then appears in your site's menu by itself. The Store turned on switch in Settings and Stripe also takes effect right away, without Save.

How buying works for your customers

  1. The visitor clicks Add to cart on a product (in a Store (products) section or on the product's own page, /product/address).
  2. The cart opens as a side panel; they can keep shopping or go to checkout.
  3. They pay on Stripe's secure checkout page.
  4. They come back to your site, to the redeem page, where they see what they bought and can download the files. If you choose a Thank-you page after payment in Settings and Stripe, they land on that page instead, with a Payment received note, their code and a button to their downloads.
  5. They also get an email with a code (like WRY9X-2WXKG-UTHCG) and a link. With that code they can come back to /redeem on your site at any time and download again.

Free products (price 0) are delivered immediately, without Stripe.

The purchase email is sent through your site's Email settings. Set them up before you start selling.

Step 1: connect Stripe

You need a Stripe account (stripe.com). The money goes directly to your Stripe account.

  1. Go to Store → Settings and Stripe.
  2. Turn on Store turned on. This shows the cart in your site's menu and allows purchases.
  3. Choose your Currency: EUR, USD, GBP, RSD or CHF.
  4. In Stripe, open Developers → API keys and copy the Secret key. Stripe has separate keys for test and live: paste the test key under Test keys and the live key under Live keys.
  5. In Stripe, open Developers → Webhooks and add an endpoint with the address shown in the Closer screen (copy it with the copy button), with the event checkout.session.completed. Copy the Signing secret (whsec_…) into Webhook signing secret. Do this in both test and live mode.
  6. Click Save, then Check the Stripe connection.

Saved keys show as saved. Use Delete saved key to remove one.

Thank-you page after payment (optional): an extra page of your site that buyers see after paying, for example /thank-you with next steps or an upsell. A button in a VSL section can choose its own thank-you page. Any button can also start a checkout with the link /buy/product-address: the product goes into the cart and the cart opens.

The webhook address uses your site's current address. If you connect your own domain later, check the address shown here again and update the endpoint in Stripe.

The payment is also confirmed when the buyer returns from checkout, so purchases work even before the webhook is set up. The webhook is a backup in case the buyer closes the window.

Also in this tab: Email me about every new order (recipients from Admin → Email) sends you a notification for every sale.

Test first, then go live

  • Under Payment mode, choose Test while you set things up. In test mode, pay with the card 4242 4242 4242 4242, any future date and any CVC. No real money moves.
  • When everything works, switch to Live (real payments).

Test purchases are counted separately in Orders (Test purchases), so they do not mix with real revenue.

Step 2: add products

  1. Go to Store → Products and click New product.
  2. Fill in:
    • Name, Short description (shown on the product card) and Full description, for each language of your site (switch languages with the buttons at the top of the form). The name in the main language is required.
    • Price. 0 or empty = free.
    • Old price (optional): shows a discount next to the price.
    • Category (optional): lets you show only some products in a section.
    • Address: the product page is /product/address. Leave empty to make it from the name.
  3. Images (the first one is the cover): upload one or more images; reorder them so the best one is first.
  4. Download files (visible only to buyers): click Upload files (ZIP, PDF, LUT, video…). Each file can be up to 100 MB. Large files can take a while to upload; keep the page open.
  5. Turn on Visible in the store (and Featured if you want to highlight it).
  6. Click Save product.

In the product list, drag the handle to set the order in which products appear on your site. Delete removes a product and its files; buyers who bought it can then no longer download it.

Download files are private. Nobody can open them without the code of a paid order.

Pay what you want

Turn on Pay what you want in the product form to let buyers choose their own price. The Price becomes the suggested amount the cart starts with, and Minimum price is the lowest amount a buyer can enter (0 or empty means they can also take it for free). On your site the price shows Pay what you want, and in the cart the buyer types the amount next to the product.

Order bump: "add to order" in the cart

An order bump is a small extra offer shown in the cart, with a checkbox, for example "Yes, add the bonus pack for just €9". One click adds the product to the order, and unchecking removes it again.

  1. Open the product that should trigger the offer (for example your main course).
  2. Under Order bump, choose the Product to offer.
  3. Optionally write the Offer text in each language. Leave it empty to show "Yes, add [product] to my order".
  4. Click Save product.

Whenever that product is in the cart, the offer appears below the cart items with the offered product's name and price. Good bumps are cheap, related and instantly useful: a template pack, a checklist, a bonus video.

Step 3: show products on your site

  1. Open the editor.
  2. In the Add tab, under Ready-made sections, click Store (products).
  3. Set the title, Button text (default Add to cart), Text when there are no products, and optionally Only this category (empty = all products) to show just one category.
  4. In Appearance, choose the Number of columns and Image shape.
  5. Publish.

You can add several store sections, for example one per category on different pages. Link to a single product from any button with /product/address.

Coupons (discount codes)

Store → Coupons holds discount codes that buyers type into the cart (Discount code → Apply).

  1. Click New coupon. A random code is suggested; change it to something memorable like SPRING25. Codes are not case-sensitive.
  2. Choose the Discount type: Percent (for example 20) or Fixed amount (for example 5.00 in your store currency).
  3. Optional limits:
    • Minimum order: the cart must be worth at least this much.
    • Maximum uses: how many paid orders can use the code. The counter goes up when an order is paid.
    • Valid from / Valid until: the code works only between these days (inclusive).
    • Only for these products: the discount is calculated only on the checked products. With nothing checked it applies to the whole cart.
  4. Keep Active on and click Save coupon.

The list shows each code with its discount, uses (for example 3 / 10 uses) and whether it is Expired or Used up. The switch turns a code off without deleting it.

What buyers see:

  • A wrong, inactive, expired, used-up or too-small code shows a clear message in the cart, in the buyer's language.
  • With a valid code the cart shows Subtotal, Discount and the new Total.
  • On Stripe's payment page the discount appears as its own line with the code name, and the buyer pays exactly the total from the cart. (Closer creates a one-time Stripe coupon for that exact amount, so there is nothing to set up in Stripe.)
  • A code that makes the total 0 (for example 100%) delivers the order right away, without Stripe.
  • The discount is shown on the order in Orders, on the buyer's download page and in the purchase email.

If a code stops working while a buyer is checking out (it expires or reaches its maximum), the cart removes it and shows the new total before anyone pays.

Orders

Store → Orders lists every order with the buyer's email, products, total and status. At the top you see Revenue (live), Paid orders, Pending payments and Test purchases.

  • Search by Email, name or code… and filter by status.
  • Statuses: Awaiting payment, Paid, Refunded, Canceled.
  • Open an order to see the code, when it was paid, the discount code used (if any) and Downloads (how many times files were downloaded).
  • Resend code sends the purchase email to the buyer again, for example if they lost it.
  • Redeem page opens the buyer's download page.
  • Internal notes are only for you.

Refunds

Refund the payment in your Stripe dashboard, then open the order in Closer and set the status to Refunded. The buyer then loses access to the downloads.

Tips

  • Use clear cover images in the same shape for all products, so the store looks tidy.
  • Put a short, concrete benefit in the Short description: it is what people read on the card.
  • Pair the store with a Countdown or VSL video section for launches, and a time-limited coupon.
  • Send paid orders to your other tools with Integrations (webhooks).
  • Do one full test purchase in Test mode, including the email and the download, before switching to Live.
