The editor
On this page
The editor is where you change everything visitors see: texts, images, sections, pages, popups, colors and fonts. Open it from your site's menu (Editor) or with Edit on a site card in My sites.
The editor works best on a computer. On a phone or tablet it shows one panel at a time: switch with Structure, Preview and Edit at the bottom of the screen. Choosing a section or element opens Edit by itself, and Publish (the rocket, fourth button at the bottom) works from any of them.
With AI switched on, tapping a text on a phone keeps the preview open and shows the AI prompt under the text; tap Edit text in it to type the text yourself.
The three panels
The editor has three columns.
Left: structure and site-wide settings
At the top are four tabs:
| Tab | What you find there |
|---|---|
| Structure | The page picker (pages and popups) and the list of sections of the page you are editing, between the Header (menu) and the Footer. |
| Design | Ready-made themes, colors, fonts, shapes, effects and custom CSS. See Design and widgets. |
| Widgets | Chat buttons, the announcement bar and other extras shown across the whole site. |
| Settings | Brand name, favicon, languages, SEO and analytics. See SEO and analytics and Languages. |
Middle: the live preview
The middle shows your site exactly as visitors will see it, updated as you type. Above it is the toolbar (described below).
- Click a text in the preview to jump straight to its field on the right.
- With AI on, a small AI prompt also opens right above the clicked text (see AI on a single text below). Click elsewhere or press Esc to close it.
- Click an element (a button, an image, a card) to select just that element.
- Click a section's background to select the whole section.
- Links and forms do nothing inside the preview, so you can click freely.
Right: Edit and Add
The right panel has two tabs:
- Edit shows the settings of whatever is selected. With nothing selected, you see Nothing selected and a button Add an element.
- Add is the library: elements you can drag into the preview, forms, popups and ready-made sections. See Sections and elements.
When a section is selected, Edit has two sub-tabs:
- Content: texts, images, links and lists.
- Appearance: the section's look (background, spacing, alignment, background image) and its Section ID.
- Sections, columns and elements also have a Size & spacing panel (width, height, margin and padding). See Sections and elements.
The switch at the top right of a selected section turns it on or off on the site.
Editing text and images
- Click the text in the preview (or select the section and find the field on the right).
- Type in the field. The preview updates instantly.
- In a Title or Main headline, pressing Enter adds a line break.
Images: click an image field to open Choose an image. Drag images into the window or click Upload (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF, up to 10 MB each), then click the image you want. You can also paste an image address that starts with https:// under Or enter an image address and click Use.
Icons: click an icon field to open the icon picker. Search in English (video, camera, star…) or click one of the quick tags.
Links: link fields offer a list of your sections, pages and popups. Pick one, or paste a link such as https://…, mailto: or tel:. To link to a product of your store, type its page address, for example /product/my-ebook.
Lists (menu links, FAQ questions, services, testimonials…): click Add item to add one, drag the handle to change the order, and use Duplicate, Hide or Delete on each item.
Languages in fields
If your site has more than one language, each text field shows a small language code (for example EN). The fields always edit the language currently shown in the preview. Click the code, or the language buttons in the toolbar, to switch. A field missing its translation shows Missing translation: visitors see the text in the main language. See Languages.
AI on a single text
When the platform's AI is on, clicking a text in the preview (a title, a paragraph, a button label, a card text, a quote…) opens a small AI prompt right above it, about half as wide as the preview. On a phone it opens under the text, across the whole width.
- Type what you want, for example make it friendlier or mention free delivery. The box grows as you write. Press Enter to send (Shift+Enter for a new line), or click a quick button: Shorter, Longer, More persuasive, Simpler, Fix grammar or Translate to … (one for each other language of your site).
- While the AI writes, a thin line runs across the top of the box. Only this one text changes; the rest of the page stays as it is.
- The new text appears in the preview and in its field on the right. Click Undo to bring back the old text, or Keep to close the box. Ctrl+Z undoes it later too.
The text is rewritten in the language shown in the preview; the other languages of the site that already have this text are updated to say the same thing, and empty translations stay empty (use Translate to … to fill one). Each request uses a few AI credits, like every AI edit. When your credits are used up, the box says so and offers Get AI credits. See AI assistant.
The box closes when you press Esc, click outside it or select something else. To open it again for a selected element, click ✦ AI in the element's toolbar.
Saving: automatic drafts
You never need to click "save". Every change is saved automatically as a draft about a second after you stop typing.
The dot in the toolbar shows the state (hover it to read it):
- green: Saved
- yellow: Changes… or Saving…
- red: Error while saving (check your internet connection; a message explains what went wrong)
Press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac) to save immediately. If you try to close the tab while a change is still saving, the browser asks you to wait.
Draft vs. published
The draft is only for you. Visitors keep seeing the last published version until you click Publish.
To publish:
- Click Publish (top right). A small dot on the button means there are unpublished changes.
- Optionally type a Short note, for example New prices. It helps you find this version later.
- Click Publish now. Visitors see the new version right away.
The menu ⋮ next to the save dot has three more actions:
- Open the published site: opens the current page of the live site in a new tab.
- Publish history: every version you published. Click Restore on an older one to copy it into the draft, review it in the editor and publish again.
- Discard unpublished changes: throws away the draft and brings back the published version.
On My sites, an Unpublished badge reminds you that a site has draft changes nobody sees yet.
Undo and redo
- Use the arrow buttons in the toolbar, or press Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Shift+Z (or Ctrl+Y) to redo. On a Mac use Cmd.
- Undo works for everything: deleted sections, pages, popups, AI edits.
- While your cursor is in a text field, Ctrl+Z undoes typing inside that field, as usual.
Keyboard shortcuts
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl/Cmd + S | Save the draft now |
| Ctrl/Cmd + Z | Undo |
| Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z | Redo |
| Ctrl/Cmd + Y | Redo |
| Ctrl/Cmd + Enter | In the AI window: create the proposal |
| ↑ / ↓ (with Shift) | In a Size & spacing field: change the value by 1 (by 10) |
| Enter / Shift + Enter | In the AI prompt on a text: send / new line |
| Esc | Close the AI prompt on a text |
Checking phones and tablets
Use the three icons at the left of the toolbar to preview the site as Desktop, Tablet or Phone. All sites adapt automatically to small screens; it is still worth checking long headlines and images on Phone.
The toolbar at a glance
From left to right:
- Desktop / Tablet / Phone preview.
- Language buttons (only with more than one language) and AI translation when you view a language other than the main one.
- Undo and Redo.
- AI: ask the AI to change the selected section or the whole page. It shows the credits each edit used. See AI assistant.
- The save state dot.
- ⋮ menu: open the published site, publish history, discard changes.
- Publish.
Tips
- Work in small steps and publish often; every publish is kept in History, so you can always go back.
- If something looks wrong after a big change, press Ctrl+Z a few times, or use Discard unpublished changes.
- If your plan or trial has ended, the editor is locked until you choose a plan. Nothing is lost.
